Has it been a while since you’ve updated your organization’s Facebook page? We know you’re busy, so here are five things you can do in less than 20 minutes for a fresh, updated page:

 

Check your contact information.

Make sure you have your phone number, website link, and email address listed. Having multiple ways for your customers to reach you allows them to pick the method of communication that works best for them – resulting in higher chances that they’ll actually reach out to you. If you already have all of these things listed on your page, take a moment to make sure they’re all up to date.

Update your profile picture and cover photo.

Switch your page’s profile photo to a clear, square, non-pixelated version of your logo if you haven’t already. Simpler is better when it comes to your page’s profile photo – it’s not only visible on your page, but also on all of your page’s posts and comments.

While you want to keep your profile photo simple, you have a little bit more freedom when it comes to your page’s cover photo. Think of this as your page’s billboard. You can fill it in with a photo of your services and/or products, a photo of your staff members, or even a video that shows what your organization does. Try to change up your cover photo or video at least a few times each year.

Spruce up your page’s description.

Introduce your organization in a few sentences – describe what you do in a nutshell, and encourage readers to contact you to get started. You can mention how long you’ve been serving your community, a short list of your products and/or services, or what makes your organization unique. Whatever you do, make sure it’s a good representation of what you do – this description might be all a page visitor views before moving on.

Look at your most recent posts.

How are they performing? Is there anything you can improve on in the coming weeks? Jot down a few social media ideas that you or someone on your team can accomplish over the next few months. For example, if you want to increase traffic on your page, consider doing a giveaway or sharing a story that features an interesting aspect of your organization. Make a plan, and make it happen.

Check out your competitors.

This is something you should be doing quite often if you aren’t already. Check out other organizations that are similar to yours and take note of some of the things that seem to be working on their pages. Are there ways you can change their methods up a bit and make them work on your page? If you have a positive relationship with them, you might even reach out to them for some input.
