As the New Year approaches, so is the pressure to have a New Year’s Resolution planned out and ready to go. Focusing more on your health, taking on a new hobby, and spending less time on social media are all great options for you – but what about your business?

The start of a new year is a perfect time to think about the direction you want your business to go – this year and beyond. Choosing a resolution (or two) to shoot for this year will help you stay on track to getting your business closer to where you want it to be.

Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas:

Resolution #1

Grow your social media presence. This one is a lot easier said than done but luckily, there are plenty of ways to achieve this goal. Consider doing giveaways to get people on your page, develop interactive social media posts to get your target audience’s attention, or do some research on your page to figure out what posts are the most effective, and do more of them. Each business will need a different, unique approach to achieve this goal.

Resolution #2

Do more community outreach. A great way to get the word out about your business! This is as simple as taking a look at the community that supports your business, and figuring out ways to pay it forward. Donate your time and/or money to your favorite local nonprofit, volunteer at a nursing home or school, or collaborate with other area businesses on giveaways and projects. Whatever you choose to do, don’t forget to take pictures and post them on your social media pages!

Resolution #3

Offer a new product or service. The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to develop a new option for your customers! Take that great idea you’ve had in the back of your head and make it a reality. Figure out the best way to develop your idea, how to market it to your target audience, and make it happen!

Resolution #4

Update your brand. Has it been a while since you refreshed your logo, website, and print materials? It might be a good time to think about an update. Nothing grabs the attention of your target audience like a brand new look. Do some research and find other logos and marketing materials that speak to you, then make those strategies work for your business.

Resolution #5

Learn a new skill. Is there a product or service you’ve always wanted to offer, but that requires learning something new? Use the New Year as a reason to start. Take a class, learn from someone else in your industry, or teach yourself that one thing you’ve always wanted to add to your business. You’ll be offering a completely new product or service before you know it!
